Financing Your Business with Local Resources

Somnath Sengupta, Serial Entrepreneur and ETC Entrepreneur-in-Residence

"The Color of Money"

At any given stage in the cycle of entrepreneurship, taking an idea from its birth to fruition is a balance between keeping the artistic control over the idea with the right team and the funding that lets you do it. As the idea matures, so does the type(s) of funding. The share of control between the financier and the financed, any and all types of funding, shouldn't become a tug of war. I'm happy to share my experiences of developing my own intellectual property, launching and financing a successful business (Paratek), and managing the profitable sale of my first company to Blackberry.

She can locate the relevant section of the Montgomery County Code ‘faster than you can finish reading this sentence.’ A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a degree in International Relations and a concentration in economic development, she graduated from Boston University School of Law with a juris doctor degree, and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.
