The Foundation for NIH (FNIH), a leading coalition builder and problem solver in the broad arena of human health, seeks a proven leader to guide the foundation as it continues to further the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH): improving health through scientific discovery. A non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, the foundation raises private-sector funds for a broad portfolio of unique programs that complement and enhance NIH priorities and activities.

The requirements of the executive director include being:

1. A recognized leader in the field of healthcare, with proven fundraising ability, management expertise, and a record of establishing effective collaborative relationships with other organizations and individuals.

2. Someone with knowledge and/or experience in life sciences, medical research, healthcare delivery, drug development, or public health. He/she should be knowledgeable about the NIH, its primary role in biomedical research, and its role as the major biomedical research granting agency of the Federal Government.

3. Someone able to communicate effectively with a diverse constituency including the biomedical science community, healthcare industry representatives, high level government officials, the philanthropic community, and our board.

This leadership position requires an individual with at least ten years management experience in medical and health research and/or not-for-profit experience, philanthropy or fund-raising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position reports to the Board of Directors through the Board Chairman.
