Job Description

We are seeking a proven professional to advance BSA’s overall corporate positioning and reputation, as well as specific policy and membership programs. This newly created position will report to the Vice President, Communications and serve as a member of a fast paced communications team. The Director will help develop and implement key communications programs and strategies; serve as the primary point of contact for members of the media and BSA’s PR agency partners; and, write and edit media materials, membership communications, and other communications materials and products.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Director, Communications position will have a proven track record in public affairs and policy communications. Excellent media relations skills and project management experience are required. The Director will have the ability to work smoothly with diverse professionals at all levels of seniority. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field, and at least 8 - 10 years of communications experience in a PR agency, Hill or government office, association, think tank or corporate PR office. Candidates must have both public and private sector experience. Global experience and experience working in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment is a plus.
