The R Street Institute­a free-market think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C., with regional offices across the country­seeks a high-energy events specialist to plan and execute R Street’s events in service of our policy priorities. This position will report to the senior manager of program services and will work with staff throughout the organization.

Ideal candidates will possess a strong attention to detail and will be passionate about pulling off successful events. The R Street Institute is a relatively young think tank experiencing rapid growth in both personnel and scholarly output. This role will play a critical part in growing the number and quality of R Street events, and will include opportunities for role and career growth.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and run event logistics, which are held in our D.C. location and across the country
• Identify ways to improve our event planning and execution
• Collaborate with colleagues in state offices and our D.C. headquarters to fulfill event needs in a timely and thorough manner
• Organize and implement various action items required for well-run events, including coordinating with staff, vendors, venue operators, contractors and event participants
• Work with our communications team to clean, update and segment event lists in support of our event goals
• Support R Street’s programmatic goals through occasional database and data entry responsibilities

Requirements:

• Two to four years of experience in an event-planning role
• Four-year college degree preferred, but we will consider all candidates with relevant event planning experience
• Experience planning a wide-range of event types, including events of different sizes (from 10 to 150 people) and in different locations
• An entrepreneurial streak and ability to act as a self-starter
• An ability and willingness to occasionally travel domestically for event-related needs
• Strong organizational and teamwork abilities, along with the ability to navigate multiple events with tight timelines
• Experience running event email lists and working in Salesforce is useful

This is a full-time job based in Washington that requires a daily presence in our D.C. office. R Street is growing rapidly but remains a close-knit team.
