Job Description :

Responsible for various levels of edit for manuscripts for four journals and occasional supplements. Maintain schedules and consistent styles for all journals, work with Editors-in-Chiefs (EICs) and publisher production management to solve editorial questions and set style, and work with all AASLD staff managing editors and Wiley production editors. Work with EICs to establish style guides and instructions to authors. Balance the work requirements of four journals.

Primary Position Responsibilities:
•      Establish journal-specific styles
•      Edit and copyedit manuscripts for four journals, applying unique elements of journal style
•      Anticipate and identify problems in the editing process and provide possible solutions
•      Ensure efficient processes and high quality of production and be able to offer shorter production turnarounds
•      Meet publication objectives shared by the EICs and staff managing editors
•      Avoid author and EIC corrections after typesetting
•      Contact authors to answer queries prior to manuscript transmission to publisher

Education and Experience:
•      Bachelor’s degree
•      Three to five years of experience in substantive biomedical editing and copyediting

Skills Needed in Position:
•      Excellent written and oral communications skills
•      Demonstrated proofreading and editing skills
•      Understanding of medical terminology and concept is highly preferred
•      Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and work well under deadline pressure
•      Exceptional interpersonal skills; customer service attitude; detail oriented; team player
•      Ability to plan and organize within schedule requirements.
•      Strong computer skills required; proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe
