Position Summary:

This is an early-level career position. The Coordinator has primary responsibility for the development and distribution of AAMVA's e-newsletters and promotional email blasts, deployment of the AAMVA booth at conferences (internal and external), coordinating the communications activities for the awards program, coordinating social media activities, and serving as a back-up for other marketing and communications functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Develops and distributes weekly membership e-newsletters, The Week in Review (TWIR) and Regional News. Collects appropriate content, develops templates, sends tests for review and approval, and coordinates effective distribution. (30%)

2.      Assists in coordinating the communications activities for the awards program, including winner and non-winner notifications, awards promotions such as email blasts, brochures and signs, writing awards luncheon scripts, developing awards luncheon slides, and writing and distributing press releases. (15%)

3.      Coordinates the use and deployment of the AAMVA booth at AAMVA conferences and appropriate industry events and maintains booth equipment and materials. (10%)

4.      Assist with coordinating activities for MOVE Magazine, including cross word puzzles, mailing lists for each issue, the quarterly e-communications, yearly readership survey, and yearly Media Kit publication. (10%)

5.      Assists with creating and distributing promotional email communications for AAMVA¡¦s events, products and services. Assists with creating and distributing email alerts. Serves as the primary contact for AAMVA¡¦s e-marketing distributor. (10%)

6.      Develops and administers AAMVA¡¦s conference mobile application, including app creation, population, and implementation. Serves as primary liaison to app vendor. (10%)

7.      Assists with creating materials for AAMVA events, including scripts, slides, conference daily e-newsletters. Assists with creating graphic designs for branding and advertisements. (5%)

8.      Coordinates AAMVA¡¦s existing social media channels, leverages and expands their use, and investigates additional channels. (5%)

9.      Serves as secondary back up for website content. (5%)

Direct Reports to this Position: None


In addition to a four year degree, the candidate should have 3-5 years of relevant work experience including experience in publications (print and electronic), mobile apps, e-communications distribution, social media, and writing for an online audience. Excellent communication skills and creativity required. Candidate should have a grasp of communications and marketing principles and be willing to challenge conventional wisdom with innovative tactics. Familiarity with multi-media tools, mobile apps, content management systems and an understanding of social media is desired. Candidate must have the inter-personal skills and the ability to represent the association in a positive light.

Formal Education:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Excellent organization, communications, and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Experience with content management systems, mobile apps, contact management databases, and online tools desired. Graphic design experience or knowledge a plus. Moderate travel is required, approximately 4-8 conferences per year.
