Blue Ridge Hunt Point-to-Point Races

Saturday, March 12, 2005
First Race: 12:00 Noon

Woodley Farm Course
Berryville, Virginia

For this event, individual WNG Members and friends have reserved approximately 10 parking spots just off the finish line in the sponsor parking section. Our vehicles will be located together to facilitate adjacent tailgate parties during the races.

Cost: General Parking pays at the gate - costs $10 per car - this gets the vehicle and driver into the general parking area; each additional occupant costs $5. Park in the field and walk to the reserved section with your BYOB / picnic.

Tailgating: Food and beverage is B.Y.O.B., so please bring your own luncheon, beer, wine, port, etc. Plan for a great set of tailgate parties!

Attire: This is a country event, run over rough ground on a local farm, so comfortable footwear is a must. No high heels for women! Boots are best. In general, normal attire is dressier than jeans but not as fancy as the Virginia Gold Cup - women wear anything from skirts to nice slacks; many of the locals wear sport coats and ties. Hats are always a good idea. If hot and sunny bring sunscreen. Plan for changeable weather - put several options for hot/cold/wet in the car so you will be comfortable in any case.

Travel time: From Washington, DC, you should approximately 90 minutes - town to country. Please note that the flag is up on the first race at 12:00 PM.

Driving Directions: Below, please find directions to the course via the Dulles Toll Road and Greenway to Leesburg and then Route 7 to Berryville. This is the fastest way to approach the course. Please also refer to this map link: click here.

Take the Dulles Toll Road / Greenway (West) to Leesburg (30 miles)
At Leesburg, take Exit 1A onto Route 15 bypass (South) - signs say Leesburg / Warrenton
Route 15 then becomes Route 7 (west) - continue to Berryville (24 miles)
Approaching Berryville, turn Left (South) onto Route 7 Business Route
Drive 1.4 miles to Route 340
Turn Left onto Route 340 (South)
Drive 3 miles to Woodley Farm, race course is on left - look for signs directing you into the course
Virginia State Police will be directing traffic

These steeplechase races present a great opportunity to get out of town for a day in the country. We strongly encourage you to join us on this special ocassion.
