Cynthia Bunton brings over 25 year’s senior executive experience with a focus on international diplomacy, global and regional program management and business strategy development. Responsibilities included advising on US interests and managing programs in Latin America, the Middle East, Europe Asia and at the United Nations. She has a strong background in political analysis, human rights, women’s issues, intellectual property, security, diplomacy and international commerce as well as worked with the US Congress and at the multi-agency level to facilitate international programs.
Her U.S. State Department experience includes postings overseas in Honduras, Denmark, Egypt, The Netherlands and Italy. Domestically she worked in the office of the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs to establish the National Endowment for Democracy which now operates in over 90 countries. As Director of the Asia Division of the International Republican Institute (IRI) she provided leadership to strengthen regulatory and political systems and promote economic opportunity and broad participation of civil society in 11 countries in Asia, including China. She has a proven record in promoting strategic partnerships between business, not-for-profits, US government and foreign entities. She has presented lectures on a wide range of foreign policy and social issues. In addition to her work with the Washington Network Group, Cynthia is Board Chair of the International Student House of Washington, D.C. and a member of the Advisory Council of DC Jazz.
