Rafael Bosquez recently joined the Québec Government Office in Washington as Economic Attaché, and he shared with us a wonderful testimonial: "After a very long period of unsuccessful job search, I decided to become a WNG member. My idea was to keep myself in touch with the professional world, participate and learn from those WNG activities I was interested in. Once a member, I realize that WNG is a great place to mingle and network. I met new people, and most important, I gain my confidence back which helped me to double my job search efforts. I was invited to three job interviews. The three interviews came from three available positions I learned about after visiting WNG's job announcement section. Finally and after almost a year and a half of searching, I landed on a new job that meet my expectations and where I feel my expertise is needed to achieve expected results. After six weeks in my new position of procurement specialist I could not be happier. This is a great way to start 2012."
Jason Levergood (WNG Advisory Board member & WNG International Roundtable steering committee member), Global Public Sector Advisory Service Line Senior Manager for Grant Thornton International led the development of a global survey on behalf of the International Consortium on Governmental Financial Management (ICGFM) titled Global Financial Management Leaders Survey: Public Financial Management Responses to an Economically Challenging World. The Grant Thornton and ICGFM survey report findings (co-authored by Jason and Grant Thornton colleagues David Nummy and Richard Hudson) were recently published by the AGA (Association of Government Accountants) in their Fall 2011 Journal of Government Financial Management - International Governmental Financial Management issue. Additionally, the survey report was recently cited in the Financial Times Special Report on November 17, 2011 in the article titled Working in the International Public Sector: Recipients are Turning Into Donors. A summary of the survey report is also soon to be published in the Federal Times. The survey examines both the impact and responses to the economic upheavals of the last several years from a public financial management perspective, providing insight into the choices made by government financial leaders and the tools employed to respond to the challenges that have arisen. For a complete version of the survey report, please click here, or contact Jason via email.
